In the summer of 2003, Gary and Carmen hosted the First Annual Forest Avenue Backyard Film Festival. The idea was inspired by the wonderful Italian movie Cinema Paradiso, which told the story of a young boy who found his way into the heart of a film projectionist in a small town in Italy. One of the poignant scenes in the film occurred when the projector was directed to an outside wall in the town square so that all the towns people could view the film. We projected our screening on the garage door in the dark (and heat) of the night.
